“on account of〜”と”on no account”の違いを教えてください。

on account of 〜 ：〜のために
on no account ：どんな理由があろうとも
を意味します。

“on account of 〜” は堅い言い方で、口語では理由を表す because を用いることが多いです。

この他、account を使った熟語はたくさんあり、似た表現が多いため混乱しやすいです。例文を使ってそれぞれの意味を覚えていくのが良いでしょう。

以下、accountを使った熟語の例です。

on account：分割払いで
on one’s own account：ひとりで / 独力で
on one’s account：（人）のために /（人）のことを思って

We cancelled the trip on account of the bad weather.
悪天候を理由に旅行をキャンセルした。

Please make the first payment on account by the end of the month.
１回目の分割払いを月末までに行なってください。

He started a new business on his own account.
彼は新しい事業を独りで始めた。

Please don’t change your plan on my account.
私のために（＝私だけのために）その計画を変更しないで。

You must not go out today on no account.
どんなことがあっても今日外に出てはいけない。

アカウントや口座というのはよくわかるのですが、「記述、説明」と訳す英文が良くわかりません。

account の説明、記述という訳は、よく事件後の調査や検査の時に使われます。

He gave the police a full account of the accident.
彼は警察に事故についてすべて話した。

His account is generally accurate.
彼の記述は大体正確だ。
